Worth buying more papers

I bought extra papers today and I can’t recall ever doing that.  I figured I could make about $20 at Rite Aid, so that’s why I did it.  Here’s how you can do it too:

Transaction 1:

At Rite Aid, Cover Girl are products are BOGO 50% off and if you spend $30, you get $10 +UP.  So…

I bought 8 items (4 @ $5.99, 2 @ $3.39, and 2 $5.19) to total over a little over $32.00  (I assumed the lowest 4 would be 1/2 off, but it actually matched the prices and gave me 1/2 off of 2 of the $5.99, 1 @ 3.39 and 1 @5.19 and in reality, I paid only $30.82, but it still allowed me to use the $32 in coupons… this was not my intention and may not work for you.)

I used 4 of the $8/2 coupons from today’s paper and paid a few pennies (I bought other things and used other +UP which is why I guess it allowed the overage).  I then got $10. +UP.  (Keep this receipt and try to spend $20 more this month and submit for $10 gift card when you buy $50 worth of select items — separate transactions okay — through P&G Think Pink campaign).

Transaction 2:

Buy Prevacid 24 hr, 28 caplets @ 21.99.
Use Rite Aid October Video Value$4. coupon for Prevacid.
Use Printable $4 coupon for Prevacid (at their website).
Use $10 +UP from first transaction.
Pay $3.99 in cash.
Get $10 +UP (for spending $20 on select Maalox items).
Submit receipt to Prevacid using their rebate form on their website to get $17.99 back (price of the product minus the $4.00 printable coupon).

Now… you can stop there, having made back your money+ with the rebate (including the extra price of the newspapers) or you can keep going…

Transaction 3:

Buy Crest toothpaste or toothbrush with the Single Check Rebate (on the back of the ad) – $2.59
Use $1.00 coupon in 10/2 P&G
Buy Oral B powered toothbrush (page 8 of the ad) with the Single check rebate – $5.99
Use $3.00 coupon in the 10/2 P&G
Buy Pert – $3
Use the $1.00 coupon in the Smart Source
Buy other things to get to add $3.42 to your total (suggestions include No-nonsense nylons ($2.99; use $1 VV coupon & receive $2 +UP) OR Gillette Body Wash/Deodorant (2 for $8; sse (2) $2 coupons from P&G and get $2 +UP on 2) OR Scope mouthwash ($4 -use $1.50 coupon in P&G and get $2.50 +UP)…

Pay close to nothing..

PLUS get extra +UP …
PLUS get $1.60 SCR on Crest
PLUS get $3 SCR on Oral-B toothbrush

Total OOP should be about less than $5, depending on what you buy (plus the cost of your extra newspapers — I bought mine at the Dollar Tree for $1)
Leave with several +UP
Get $22.59 in cash from 2 SCR and Prevacid rebates
Plus I plan on spending the extra $20 to mail in the P&G rebate by the end of the month and get $10 rebate back.. hopefully using more coupons, of course!

Check out Hip2Save’s Rite Aid post for the links and the details to these ads and rebates.
**Please Note:  I have not mailed in my Prevacid Rebate, so I can only hope that I will get it… but I have followed all of the instructions!
*Please ALSO Note:  You will want to do the Cover Girl and Prevacid deals on separate transactions if you plan on mailing in the rebate as you need the original receipt for both.

Cheap Diapers this week at Rite Aid

Hi all,

There is a great diaper deal this week going on at Rite Aid.

Jumbo packs of Huggies are on sale for $8.97, and Little Swimmers are on sale for $6.97. Plus, when you buy $30 worth of selected Kimberly Clark products (including the Huggies), you get $10 UP rewards.

I bought 3 jumbo packs of size 3 and a pack of little swimmers = $33.88

I used 2 $1 off your purchase coupons and a $1/1 huggies RA coupon, all found at Rite Aid Ad Perk’s site as well as a $3 off $15 survey coupon. (Rite Aid coupon total =$6)

I also used 4 of the $3/1 Huggies coupons available here. (Manufacturer coupon total = $12)

So I paid $15.88 out of pocket and then got $10 UP rewards…

$5.88 for 108 size 3 diapers + a pack of little swimmers is quite a good deal. And yes, we are still using cloth diapers. We do use the occasional disposable, but I like to give these as baby shower presents!

Free or better than free deals this week

My favorite deal of the week is at Giant/Martin’s:

  • Buy 3 Hallmark expressions cards and get a $5 coupon good on your next order (OYNO). The $.99 cards are working with this deal and if you use a bonus card, you will save 10% on Hallmark cards including the $.99 cards. So, I bought a LOT of cards at $.89 each and got lots of $5 coupons to use later. A few things to note: the catalinas expire at the end of May, the catalinas state you can only use one per (future) transaction, and there does not appear to be a limit.

Other free deals at Martins/Giant:

  • Tabasco sauce on sale for $1. Use $.50/1 or $.60/1 from 5/1 insert or printable here to score these for free or better than free.

Free deals other places:

Rite Aid

  • Excedrin PM on sale for $1.99. Use $2.50/1 coupon from 12/5 SS to score for free.
  • Revlon Tools are 40% off and produce a $4 UPR wyb 2. There are lots of tools that are less than $2 (nail clippers, etc.) making this a money maker. If you can find the Revlon CrazyShine, you can also submit for $2 Single Check Rebate.

  • Colgate (certain types) $2.77 with $2.77 ECB. Use the $.75/1 or $1/1 coupons from the 5/1 SS to make this a moneymaker.

Kathy’s R.A. & CVS deals – 4/24

I’ve been a little out of it and we were on vacation — but that didn’t stop me from going to CVS’s in North Carolina!  I went to 3 different ones and had my green bag tag scanned on T, W, Th, F, and S of last week!  ha ha

Here’s what I found interesting to add to Leslie’s CVS deals:

Blink Tears — look for $4 peelie coupons on the boxes to make these a $4 MM.  I bought these in NC on Saturday and they had them on every box, but I don’t know if there are some here in PA.

Rite Aid

Orajel training toothpaste (my store was $3.99) – BOGOF; spend $10, get $5 +UP
Buy 6 and use (6) $1 off coupons — newspaper or printable on their website
Spend 11.97; use $6 coupons, get $5 UP
Net total:  .97 for all 6!

Orajel mix /  match scenario – BOGOF; spend $10, get $5 +UP
2 – Orajel training toothpaste – 3.99
2 – Orajel teething cream (my store was 2 tubes – night and day –  in one box) – $7.99
(4) – $1 coupons (newspaper or printable on Orajel’s website)
Spend: 11.98, use $4 coupons, get $5 +UP
Net total:  $2.98, which I think is a great price for these items

The shopping trip

Tonight Sam was away and I had our baby all to myself. I was brave and decided to make THE weekly shopping trip. We went to two Rite Aids, Giant, CVS, and Weis. When I was at our second to last stop I thought, “I will never be able to do this many stops with more than one baby.”

Anyway, things went well. I got some of the general deals at RA and did a combination of special deals:

I struck out at CVS – they didn’t have a single thing on my list. My total ended up being $11.96 for everything in the picture and I got two $3/15 survey coupons at RA. A good day!
