Cheap Ice Cream at Giant

This week Breyers ice cream is on sale 2/$5 at Giant. You can print a $.75/1 Breyer’s Blasts coupon twice per computer from their facebook page. The ice cream is also part of the gas promotion (buy 6 get 20 cents off per gallon), so you could combine this deal with a few other products to earn cheap(er) gas.

If you don’t want or need the other products (like me), print two coupons, pay in separate transactions (so both coupons double), and you will get each tub of ice cream for $1.

Giant Food Cereal Promo

This week the General Mills cereal promo returned to Giant. Buy any 4 General Mills cereals, get $6 off instantly and a catalina coupon for free milk (up to $4.50) on your next order.

Although it says the promo is not good on discontinued cereals, the deal is working with discontinued cereals.

Today I bought 4 boxes of Wheaties Fuel that were marked discontinued and priced at $2.67 each. I then used (4) $1/1 coupons from the Wheaties website (you will need 2 computers to print 4 coupons) which brought each box to $1.67 and my total to $6.68. Then, $6 instant savings and the milk catalina meant I paid $.68 for a gallon of milk and 4 boxes of cereal. Try this deal out for cheap cereal.

Cheap Coffee and Card Moneymaker at Martin’s/Giant

The Eight O’Clock Coffee is priced $5.99 and is BOGO this week. Use the $2/2 coupon available here or in the inserts from last Sunday (6/5) to get two bags of coffee for $3.99!

There is also a promotion on Hallmark Cards – buy 3 and get $5 off instantly. I bought three sets of 3 cards that were $1.49 each (so my total was $4.47 for the cards) and got $5 off instantly, making each set of cards a $.53 money maker. I separated the sets of cards into separate transactions so I’m not sure if it will work in one or not. If you try it, leave a comment.

EDIT: I just checked my receipt and forgot that Giant bonuscard saves me an additional 10% on all cards. So, each card cost me $1.34, making each set of 3 cards a $.98 moneymaker.

Donation etiquette?

When things are free or almost free, I buy them with the intent to donate them if our family does not use the product (or if we won’t use it before it expires). Let me explain a few things I did this past week and you tell me if you think this is proper donation etiquette:

There is a cereal deal going on at Weis Markets this week. The local food give-a-way is especially appreciative of cereal, so I tend to buy it when it is a good deal. Now, there are two promos going on that allow me to buy this cereal for free or cheap.

Promo #1: A Kellogg’s Cereal Rebate on certain brands of cereal, which includes the 2 boxes of Raisin Bran I bought.

Promo #2: The Kellogg’s “Passport to Adventure” promo in which you can enter codes from specially marked boxes of cereals to receive $5 gas cards. I bought four boxes of Frosted Flakes which got me 4 points, the equivalent of a $5 gas card.

So…donation etiquette opinions about:

  • In order to take advantage of Promo #1, I need to collect the UPCs. So I tore them off of the bottom of the cereal box and left the rest of the box in tact.
  • In order to take advantage of Promo #2, I had to open the boxes to get the code on the inside of the box. The bag is still sealed. My spouse suggested writing the name of the cereal on the bag rather than leaving the boxes open or trying to glue them shut again, so that’s what I did.
  • The Mylicon drops I wrote about here included coupons in the box for the product. Our baby is past the Mylicon drops stage so I planned to donate them. I opened the wrapping, took out the coupons and used them to buy the product (with the permission of the cashier). The drops and dropper in the box are still sealed. Ok to donate?

CVS Tips from early June 2011

Last week I did my usual run to CVS. For those of you who are local, I went to the CVS across from the Stonehouse plaza in Hagerstown. Here are some noteworthy things from my trip:

I found CVS coupons laying in a display of makeup…I took a few copies and left the rest

The coupons are $1/1 crystal light, $1/1 Colgate Gum Defense toothpaste, $1/1 Lady speed stick, $1/1 Irish Spring, and $1/1 Nature Maid Vitamins.

I also found a few things on clearance in the baby dept.:

Then when I approached the checkout, I saw a 75% clearance cart that included Mylicon drops in boxes that included an additional $10 worth of coupons.
